About the ventriloquist, Meghan Casey

Where it all began...

Meghan's initial interest in ventriloquism began with her dad, Ed. He picked up the unique art when he found out that Meghan was going to be born. While growing up, Ed would read books to her using puppets. At the age of five, she noticed her dad's lips moving, and that's when she discovered how the puppets were REALLY talking. Meghan suddenly became very interested in learning ventriloquism and was determined to become a ventriloquist herself.

At the age of six, she passed the Maher Course of Advanced Ventriloquism after completing it in six months. Her dad wouldn't let her attend the annual "puppet meeting" with him unless she finished the course, so she was on a time crunch to make it happen. The "puppet meeting" is otherwise known as the International Vent Haven Ventriloquist ConVENTion, which holds a series of workshops and performances done by other ventriloquists from around the world. Meghan performed for the first time on a stage when she was six years old at the ConVENTion and instantly fell in love with being on stage and making people laugh.

Background & Education

Meghan has always had big plans to incorporate ventriloquism into her career. Initially, she wanted to be a meteorologist that used puppets to broadcast the forecast; however, her interest shifted more towards the health field as she got older. For the longest time, she was determined to one day become a pediatrician that used puppets for kids that were scared to go to the doctor.

In 2013, she began her journey at Colorado State University and realized a few years down the road that her brain was not designed to grasp the science concepts to become a doctor. After changing her major a few times, she graduated in 2018  with her degree in Psychology.

In 2020, Rocky Mountain Puppets had 243 shows cancelled due to the pandemic, but she was fortunate to become "TikTok Famous" during this time. She has gained a following of over 3 million people between TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, so she became a content creator until she could start performing live shows again.

While she did do virtual performances during this time, something was missing. In October 2020, she found a paraeducator position at an elementary school in Boulder,CO. Her heart felt complete again after being able to teach/work with the kids.

Meghan is now a full-time performer/content creator again and is studying to obtain her Teaching License. Her goal is to one day have a TV show that educates the world about health, safety, fitness and nutrition using puppets and the art of ventriloquism.
