Meghan's initial interest in ventriloquism began 24 years ago with her dad, Ed. He picked up the unique art when he found out that Meghan was going to be born in 1994. While growing up, Ed would read books to her using puppets, and at the age of five, she noticed her dad's lips move. That's when she discovered the magic on how the puppets were REALLY talking. Meghan began learning ventriloquism immediately and was determined to become a ventriloquist herself.
At the age of 6, she passed the Maher Course of Advanced Ventriloquism within six months of beginning the course. Her dad wouldn't let her attend the annual "puppet meeting" with him unless she completed the course before attending, so she was on a time crunch to make it happen. The "puppet meeting" is otherwise known as the International Vent Haven Ventriloquist ConVENTion, holds a series of workshops and performances from other ventriloquists around the world. Meghan performed for the first time on a stage at this convention and instantly fell in love with being on a stage and making people laugh.
Meghan has always had big plans to incorporate ventriloquism into her career. While growing up, she wanted to be a meteorologist that used puppets to broadcast the forecast; however, her interest shifted more towards the health field as she got older. For a very long time, she was determined to one day become a pediatrician that used puppets for kids that were scared to go to the doctor.
In 2013, she began her journey at Colorado State University and realized a few years down the road that her brain was not designed to become a medical professional. After changing her major a few times, she graduated in 2018 with a Master of Science Degree in Psychology.
In 2020, Rocky Mountain Puppets had 243 shows cancelled due to the pandemic, but she was fortunate to become "TikTok Famous" during this time. Over 3 million people engage with her content on social media on a daily basis between TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. (Her account name is listed as @meghanmcasey).
While she did do virtual performances and create content to post on social media during this time, something was still missing. In October 2020, she found a paraeducator position at an elementary school in Boulder, CO. Her heart felt complete again after being able to teach/work with kids in person.
When the world opened back up, Meghan returned to being a full-time performer and content creator and is currently working towards her goal of having her own TV show that educates all ages about healthy lifestyle habits, travel hacks, and safety tips using puppets and the art of ventriloquism.
